Izonzo
Izonzo was a chestnut Trakehner stallion, six years old and about 16.1hh. He was a very nice-looking horse and I was to find that he really had a nice temperament. However, idleness imposed by injury had made him rather difficult in the stable. By spending some time with him, and exercising him as much as the constraints of his injuries allowed, I brought out his nice nature and showed that he was capable of a little light work. Gemini Gemini was a former racehorse I met at a riding school I managed. After racing, he had gone from one novice owner to another, and a legend had built up that he would not accept a rider with whip and spurs. In fact ridden with sensitivity, he turned out to be fantastically responsive and a pleasure to sit on. Don Don was seven years old, a 17hh Irish X Thoroughbred black gelding. He had one swollen knee (although he was not lame). A nice horse in many ways, but very stiff on his forehand. As I worked him to become more supple and better balanced, he took less weight on his forelegs and his swollen knee reduced without treatment. Black Beauty Black Beauty was a 15.3hh, eight year old Thoroughbred mare, very nice looking and correctly built. However, her previous training had not been good so she didn't work correctly, her knowledge was limited and she was very spooky. During the time I worked with her, we established a really good bond and, although she would always be sensitive, she started to work very nicely and stopped being spooky. Sprite Sprite was a twelve-year-old 16hh bay Thoroughbred mare. She had been raced as a youngster and out side of this she didn't know much. However, she was basically a kind mare, just green. She helped me get a job at a riding school and I enjoyed helping her to develop over a period of six years. In later life, she went on to produce some nice foals by Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse stallions.
