Silver was a 15.2hh dark bay gelding who was about three and a half years old when I started to train him. He was quite well built except that his hindquarters were higher than his withers by about two fingers. Working with him gave me valuable insight into dealing with nervous youngsters, and devising ways of working with this type of conformation.

Silver leg-yeilding - note the activity of his off hind leg.   Teaching Silver to move away from the leg - a little lateral work helps increase the strength and suppleness of his hindquarters.

An early example of his trot with Silver taking a very small step with his near hind while the off fore takes a bigger step.   A much improved trot, with more regularity of steps. I am adapting my position to help Sliver's balance, riding with a light contact.
